Golf for Life Outing

golf for lifeThe second Annual Golf for Life Outing took place on June 5, 2006, at the Rockaway River Country Club in Denville, New Jersey. Once again, the event was lovingly organized and hosted by the family of Carol Spina, who is currently battling ALS. The day was picture perfect and extraordinarily successful, raising awareness of ALS and over $200,000 for the Eleanor and Lou Gehrig MDA/ALS Research Center. Attendees enjoyed a delicious buffet lunch, followed by 18 holes of golf on the club’s lush fairways and manicured greens. At the sixth hole, golfers tried to win a Ford Mustang with a hole in one, but no one made the lucky shot, although several players came close. A cocktail hour and dinner followed, accompanied by a silent auction where approximately 200 guests generously bid on items as varied as autographed sports jerseys, weekend getaways, hand embroidered pillowcases, baseball tickets, designer jewelry and art work. The center is grateful to all those to who contributed to the event and especially to the Spina family for their enthusiastic support and trust. W ith their generosity and dedication we move closer to the cure.
