As I write the list of current clinical trials here at the center
I realize why we feel so busy! We have at least eight
active projects with many others being developed or
near completion. In addition to research, we are working
on improving our ALS Multidisciplinary Care (AMC)
Center to function even better so that we are able to provide
the best care possible. The strong commitment to
this disease from everyone who works here is outstanding
and heart felt. I suppose that’s why I have not realized
how busy we really are.
I am also excited to report that we are planning a
Continuing Medical Education (CME) course for
Multidisciplinary Care in ALS on October 28, 2006.
Designed for health care professionals, there will be several
experts in ALS from across the country to discuss
and collaborate on the many facets of clinical care as
well as practical, hands on workshops. In years past,
these symposiums have been enormously successful.
More details on the course and registration will be available
soon.
As spring approaches and the daffodils and tulips
emerge, I hope for new information and strategies to
combat this difficult disease.
My very best to all!
Jackie
When typing on a keyboard is cumbersome or difficult
there is a program for an onscreen, mouse
driven keyboard called ScreenDoors2000. It comes with
Predictor, a program that not only predicts the word you
are typing, but also predicts the next word based on logic
and/or the user's frequency of use. It saves words in a dictionary
that can be edited by the user and a "netMode" for
typing email and web addresses. You can get more information
at www.madentec.com
